Mr Mousington rescued with multiple injuries, now lives life to the full helped with Photizo Vetcare
By Maddy and Kevin Woodhouse
Mr Mousington is a rescue dog who was found at the side of a road with multiple fractures.
He had surgery just after he was rescued but, sadly, this surgery failed and nobody knew until it was too late to repair the damage. As a result, he lives with a chronically broken pelvis, a fracture to his sacrum that compresses the nerve to his tail and a badly damaged knee where misplaced surgical pins wore away the joint.
Despite his injuries, we do everything in our power to give Mr Mousington the best life possible and we have fundraised for him to have orthopaedic surgery and ongoing care in our quest to minimise his pain wherever we can. Mr Mousington is lucky to have the support of a fantastic veterinary pain specialist who helps us to minimise the pharmaceutical drugs he needs and we support him with complementary therapies, physiotherapy, pain-management techniques, diet and supplements to give him the best life possible.
We were lucky to have a friend who kindly loaned us her Photizo Vetcare unit to see if it might help Mr Mousington, and we were really pleased with the results. Mr Mousington is very happy for us to apply the device to his body – even his most sore areas (his knee in particular).
After each session he is noticeably more relaxed and comfortable and we are certain that there is reduced muscular tension in his lumbar area and around his damaged knee.
Over the last few days, because Mr Mousington has been unable to take his usual pain medication due to a digestive upset, we were concerned that he would struggle with his knee and tail pain. Happily, we were able to use the Photizo to help manage his symptoms and we have been very pleased with how well he coped.
We’ve decided to invest in a Photizo Vetcare for Mr Mousington to help manage his pain because it gives us another method of drug-free chronic pain management that we feel is important for him to continue to live life to the full.
